Workshop "Coffee Tasting"


Taste coffee like the pros! Following an introduction to the different species and their varieties of coffee, this workshop focuses on developing a raising awareness for coffee flavours, followed by a tasting session in accordance with the rules of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).

After a brief round of introductions, we’ll immediately dive into the basics of coffee:


     

The Basics
- Green coffee: About coffee species and their varieties
- About the distribution, growing regions and qualities of coffee


Sensitisation of the Senses

In a group exercise, we use the ‘Aroma Bar’ to help you recognise a wide variety of coffee flavours – from pleasant (e.g. ‘nutty’ or ‘chocolatey’) to unpleasant (‘grassy’ or ‘woody’).

Expert Knowledge
- Coffee production: harvest, processing and classification
- Roasted coffee: from light to dark and the effects on the flavours

The Coffee Tasting
Coffee tasting of four different coffees according to the international standards of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). Using special tasting spoons, we’ll taste like the pros, just like real coffee sommeliers.

    The workshops take place on Saturdays from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm, or by arrangement. An individual workshop will be organized if there are enough interested participants.
